At Bunk1, Ari is responsible for the company's growth, strategic development and overall management. He graduated with honors from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management with concentrations in marketing, finance, and entrepreneurship. His background includes product management with the Sunny Delight brand at Procter & Gamble, and with the Marketing department of HFS (now Cendant corporation). Additionally, he worked on Capitol Hill for the Banking and Financial Services Committee. With baby-soft hands, cheetah-like instincts and a swing that would make Donnie Baseball jealous, Ari, Bunk1's third baseman, is the cornerstone of our softball team. In what only can be considered an egregious oversight, Ari just narrowly missed getting voted onto baseball's all-century team. We can only hope that the voting committee won't make the same mistake twice.
David Gomberg David's responsibilities at Bunk1 include overseeing the overall production of the Bunk1.com site. He focuses on site usability, content, and functionality, relying greatly on his experience working in creative/youth markets. After graduating from Duke University, David worked at Nextoy, a toy development company specializing in the placement of new concepts into the children's product industry. While working at Nextoy, David co-authored three books geared towards the Gen Y/Gen X markets: 'Would You Rather…?' (Penguin 1997), 'Would You Rather 2: Electric Boogaloo' (Penguin 1999), and 'Do Unto Others: Over 1000 Hilarious Ways to Screw with People's Heads' (St. Martin's Press 2000). Due to chronic bad knees, David serves as Bunk1's 1st baseman. While not the most agile player on the field, his consistency and even-keel temperament make David an asset both on the field and in the clubhouse.
Andrew Ackerman
(no relation to Ari) Andrew has been charged with the demanding task of managing all aspects of Bunk1's operations. Andrew graduated Beta Gamma Sigma from the University of Chicago's Graduate School of Business with concentrations in Production and Operations Management. Upon graduating, he worked for four years at Booz, Allen & Hamilton in the Operations and Management group. After leaving Booz, Andrew went to work for Kaplan Test Prep Online where he introduced new internet-based test preparation products, established their affiliate program, and helped manage the selection of new technology vendors. Despite its intrusion on his otherwise sedentary lifestyle, Andrew is occasionally coaxed onto the softball field. When he does play, he shows a surprising grace with the leather and a swing that belies secret trips to the batting cages.
Jacob
Zlotoff As Bunk1's Director of Client Development, Jacob is responsible for overseeing the development and maintenance of relationships with camps, camp owners/directors, and camp organizations. Additionally, Jacob is responsible for creating and implementing Bunk1's marketing programs. Jacob is a California native, originally from Santa Monica, CA. He is graduate of Haverford College, with experience in the public policy arena, including a stint at the White House. Jacob, our pitcher, has devastated opposition all season long with a nasty mix of lobs and semi-lobs. What Jacob lacks in upper body strength, he more than makes up for with gargantuan legs, a seemingly endless pool of energy, a consistently level swing, and a well-rehearsed swagger.
Ed
Metzendorf As Director of Sales at Bunk1.com, Ed oversees all aspects of the sales program and is integral to Bunk1's marketing efforts. Additionally, Ed works closely with Jacob helping to develop and maintain relationships with Camps and Camp Owners/Directors. While Ed came on board too late for softball season, he has shown surprising grace and prowess on the hoops court. Ed, with his quick hands, soft touch, and almost-implausible court sense, holds, until this very day, the Dwight School scoring record with 62 points in one game. Additionally, he won 7 intramural championships and likes to tell us about it.
Nicole Waranch Don't let her sweet demeanor fool you; Nicole is a fearsome competitor come game-time. Recalling her 2 years of middle school softball fondly, she has recently stepped it up into the big leagues and is the starting second baseman for the Bunk1 squad. Sure-handed and able to hit equally well to all fields, Nicole is Bunk1's answer to the NY Yankee's Pat Kelly.
Ali Mann Ali graduated from Queens College with a 3.98 GPA (we can brag about her, even if she can’t) with a degree in Sociology. Combining her love of camp and her love of people, she found herself at Bunk1 where she, as part of our dynamic duo (with Nicole), is Senior Camp Liason. Her responsibilities include bringing new camps on board to work with Bunk1, managing new client needs, and maintaining relationships with our current client base. An unsung hero on the Bunk1 softball squad, Ali played varsity softball in High School. She’s been disappointed in her play thus far (attributing her play to the fact that she’s not 17 anymore— although she still looks it). Whether it’s gunning out runners at the plate with her rifle of an arm from right field or it’s nailing runners at second when playing catcher, Ali is a player to reckoned with. Look for her to have a big season next year. |
